In this second-semester course, students will learn about the language, properties, and operations of algebra. This course builds a strong foundation in logical thinking and problem solving. Students receive instruction in linear sentences, algebra in a plane, linear systems, functions, fractional equations, real numbers, equations with real solutions, systems of equations, and probability. Students who successfully complete this course will master addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational equations and equations containing radicals; solve problems involving proportions and formulas, and direct and inverse variations; solve right triangles using the Pythagorean theorem; solve quadratic equations; and apply several methods of data analysis, including mean, median, and mode.
