Release Notes

Version 1.2.0 — June 21, 2021


This release introduces new features including Participation View, Play Video, and improvements to the Breakout Rooms as well as a number of stability improvements and several usability enhancements for the Windows application.


Included below are the enhancements we have made to features currently existing in Class for Windows.

Feature Additions
  • Participation View
    • Users that have not spoken or have spoken in the lowest third of the total talk time for the class. These users should display first in the grid view before other users and have a red border around their profile panels
    • Users that have spoken in the middle third of the total talk time for the class. These users should display next in the grid view after the least active users and have an orange border around their profile panels
    • Users that have spoken in the top third of the total talk time for the class. These users should display last in the grid view after all other users and have a green border around their profile panels
  • Introduced the Play Video feature allowing Instructors and Teaching Assistants to easily share video content to the class
  • Enhanced the Breakout Room feature including UI improvements and functionality allowing users to now:
    • Leave the Breakout Room and return to the classroom
    • Leave the Meeting from the Breakout Room
    • Cancel their decision to leave and return to the Breakout Room

Bug Fixes

Bug Fixes

Included below are the fixes that were made to address known issues or to improve the overall stability of the product.

  • Fixed issue causing the application to crash when selecting Class Mgmt tab or Breakout Rooms
  • Fixed issue with Create New Assignment button not working
  • Fixed issue where feedback shared with presenting users was shared to all users
  • Fixed issues with the Play Video feature not allowing Instructors to play videos or allowing Students to play videos when the Instructor should have the controls
  • Updated the version number on the application installer
  • Fixed issue where the alternate host was incorrectly displayed as a student
  • Fixed issue for students muting themselves incorrectly seeing a “Muted by Instructor” message 
  • Fixed issue where users did not see the option to leave a Breakout Room
  • Fixed issue where Teaching Assistants could not move or remove users from the Podium
  • Added a message for users attempting to screen share without permissions
  • Fixed issue where creating a new assignment dialog would not open for the Japanese localized application
  • Fixed issue where roles could not be changed on the Japanese localized application

Known Issues

Included below are the open issues that our team is actively working to address. An updated list of known issues will be published with our next release.

  • Instructors are not able to edit or grade assignments 
Screen Sharing
  • When users Share Screen and close the application they are sharing, participants do not see a message informing them that screen sharing has stopped
  • Secondary Instructors are not able to share their screen
  • Students are not able to Share Screen within a Breakout Room
Files (Zoom users)
  • Users joining from Zoom cannot upload files
  • Users joining from Zoom do not receive a link to the Syllabus from chat
  • Students joining from Zoom are not able to open files shared by Instructors
  • When verifying users, the options to verify a user as a New Student, Existing Student, or Other are not visible
  • The Student count is not visible in the sidebar
  • There are intermittent issues with opening the Syllabus for both instructors and students
General Use
  • Users are currently able to remove pin for users who are not displayed in the main gallery
  • For users connected to a second display, the title bar is missing from the Class application
  • Teaching Assistants are not able to access the Teacher’s Podium feature
