Version 1.4.0 — July 26, 2021

Overview

This release includes the launch of cloud and local screen recording tools as well as a number of stability improvements.

Feature Additions

Included below are the additions we have made to Class for Windows.

Screen Recording
  • Introduced the ability for instructors to record Class sessions locally or to the cloud—this implementation now aligns with the screen recording tools that are available on macOS
  • Introduced the ability for instructors to record their shared screen when starting a recording session while sharing their screen

Enhancements

Included below are the enhancements we have made to features currently existing in Class for Windows.

General Use
  • Several changes were made to improve the performance of the main toolbar controls
  • Several changes were made to improve the performance of the Seating Chart and View dropdown controls
Breakout Rooms
  • Participants will be able to see messages broadcast by the instructor while in breakout rooms
Localization
  • Released a localized version of the Class application in Japanese

Bug Fixes

Included below are the open issues that our team is actively working to address. An updated list of known issues will be published with our next release.

Screen Share
  • Fixed issue where a Student whose role was changed to an Assistant was not able to initiate Screen Recording
Seating Chart
  • Fixed issue where the Seating Chart name was not fully displayed
Share Files
  • Fixed issue where Launch All Files would not open the tabs but close the dialog
Verification
  • Fixed issue where an Unverified user who is also Presenting did not have the label Unverified on their video tile

Known Issues

Included below are the open issues that our team is actively working to address. An updated list of known issues will be published with our next release.

Localization
  • The assessment grading page is not localized
Screen Share
  • Instructors are not able to share only music or computer sound
  • The green border highlighting a shared screen sometimes does not show for full-screen applications
Teaching Tools
  • When launching the Learning Management System or Browse the Web, users are not able to see content opened in new windows or tabs
Zoom Users
  • Users joining from Zoom are not able to open shared files from the Zoom chat or the Web Sidebar
  • Users joining from Zoom cannot see the number of students in the Participants list
  • Users joining from Zoom are unable to view launched videos
General Use
  • Users do not receive a link to the Syllabus in the Zoom chat
  • Users are not able to verify students when they join a completed Class session
  • Students cannot connect to Class when using SAML authentication
  • Users are unable to Create a New Class using an existing Zoom Meeting
  • Users are unable to join Classes that have special characters in the password
  • Selecting an option from the ‘More’ menu does not automatically close the menu
  • When launching a video, there are intermittent issues with the video playing and showing a blank screen instead
