The whiteboard feature introduces a way for learners and instructors to work individually or collaboratively with creative tools during live classes.
Creating a Whiteboard
1.
Within a Class, navigate to Teaching Tools, and select Whiteboard. The instructor can create a shared whiteboard on the Whiteboard creation window, which allows the whole class or breakout room to collaborate. Conversely, the instructor can create an individual whiteboard for learners to work independently.
Changes in Class Version 2.15
Within a Class, select Collaborate in the toolbar at the bottom of the application. On the Collaborate window, select Whiteboard.
A new window will appear that is only visible to the instructor. Select Create whiteboard.
Give your new whiteboard a name, configure the settings and select Save.
Click on your whiteboard and select Share.
Whiteboard Tools
Whiteboard features several creative tools that allow instructors and learners to create and annotate pages based on the needs of their class.
3.
Instructors and learners can use various annotation tools to illustrate the whiteboard based on the class’s needs and can select them by selecting their icon or using the keyboard shortcut while the Whiteboard is in focus:
- Square/Rectangle (Keyboard shortcut: R or 2)
- Diamond (Keyboard shortcut: D or 3)
- Ellipse (Keyboard shortcut: E or 4)
- Arrow (Keyboard shortcut: A or 5)
- Line (Keyboard shortcut: P or 6)
- Draw (Keyboard shortcut: X or 7)
4.
Annotation tools are fully customizable, allowing learners and instructors to change the size, color, fill pattern, outline width, outline style, and the sloppiness of the lines. The rectangle tool has one additional customization option, which allows users to choose whether their creation has round or sharp edges.
Instructors and learners also have the option to copy and paste their annotations or delete them. Select Clear all to start fresh.
