Overview of Class for Web

Class for Web is a web-based version of Class available for the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browser. Built on the Zoom Web SDK, Class for Web allows instructors and participants to join Class with no installation of additional software required. This makes joining Class particularly easy for learners and participants who come “in and out” of classes and training regularly. 

Class for Web is primarily recommended for learners and participants, from elementary school students who don’t know how to install applications to corporate employees who are not allowed to install anything on their company-provided devices. 

Class advises instructors/facilitators to use the client (desktop) app for leading Class sessions. The desktop experience still provides more functionality, particularly for instructors.

Turning on Class for Web

Admin users must enable the feature to allow their organization’s users to access Class for Web. For more details, review the Enabling Class on Web support article. 

Enabling Class for Web does not impact or create new permissions for users.

Browser Support for Class for Web

Class for Web is currently supported on the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browser. It may be functional on other chromium-based browsers (such as Brave), but Class for Web is only officially supported on Google Chrome. and Microsoft Edge For more details, refer to the Web App: Supported Browser support article.

Additionally, not all Class features are available on Class for Web at this time. Please consult with your Customer Success Manager for details or more information.

Setting Users Up for Class for Web

To use Audio, Video, and Screen Sharing capabilities with Class for Web, users will need to:

  1. Grant microphone/video/screen recording permissions to Google Chrome and/or Microsoft Edge
  2. Allow microphone/camera usage by when prompted by the browser configurations needed
