This release includes the ability for participants to move between breakout rooms, a revamped sidebar, survey templates, additional admin configurability, enhancements to existing features, and several bug fixes.

Feature Additions

Authentication
  • Admins now have the option to add in a vanity URL prefix so that users in the organization will be able to sign-in to a specific version of Zoom when they launch their instance of Class

Breakout rooms
  • Host instructors now have the option to allow participants to move between breakout rooms
    • Once enabled, participants will have access to the Breakout Rooms menu to leave and join breakout rooms as they choose
Closed captioning (manual)
  • Host instructors will be able to input manual closed captions for all users from their Views dropdown. When instructors turn this on, it will be displayed for all participants and also provide participants the option to turn them off
Feature toggle
  • Admins will now be able to disable or enable Office Hours for the entire organization
    • Once disabled, users will no longer see the option to start an Office Hours session

Report a technical problem
  • All users will now be able to report any technical issues with Class directly from the application by navigating to the Class meeting information and selecting the option to ‘report a technical problem’. Users will have the options to input their organization, point of contact, and send logs so that our teams can better troubleshoot and resolve issues
Sidebar
  • The web sidebar UI has been updated to be more accessible and user friendly
    • Lose focus tracking will now display in the reactions column
    • User profile circles will appear in the same color as the users’ role:
      • Instructor / TA → Purple
      • Learner (Absent/Present) → Black
      • Cameras → Green
      • Presenting group → Pink
      • Any user that is talking → Yellow

    • ‘Mute All’ and ‘Verify All’ buttons have been updated to be more accessible
Survey templates
  • Class has added pre-loaded survey templates that are provided for all instructors and assistants to use. These templates comprise standard corporate and academic evaluation surveys. Instructors and assistants will be able to choose these templates after opening Surveys in Teaching Tools

Enhancements

Included below are the enhancements we have made to features currently existing in Class.

Privacy mode

Bug Fixes

Included below are the fixes that were made to address known issues or to improve the overall stability of the product.

Localization
  • Fixed issue where instructors and assistants were unable to pin a Class Camera under the podium in the Japanese-translated version of Class
Proctor/Collaboration mode
  • Fixed issue when launching proctor/collaboration mode from older version of Class would cause the application to crash
Screen recording
  • Fixed issue when the Zoom administrator disabled local recording at the account-level, the record button in Class would become dysfunctional
Screen sharing
  • Fixed issue where the screen sharing permissions would not persist when the host instructor delegated their host role to another user
Seating chart
  • Users will see an updated “General” sort when selected from their Seating Chart to provide a more consistent and smoother experience when viewing participant video panels when they are actively speaking or when they have recently spoken
General use
  • Fixed issue where creating a class using an existing Zoom meeting ID with spaces would display an error
  • Fixed issue occurring when unverified users were able to communicate with verified participants
  • Fixed issue where instructors and assistants were seeing an error message when creating activities for newer classes
  • Fixed issue where the “due by” date for a quiz was not fully displayed

Known Issues

Included below are the open issues that our team is actively working to address. An updated list of known issues will be published with our next release.

Play Video
  • Participants are able to bypass the instructor-controlled video via their touchbar media controls
Settings
  • Zoom statistics are missing from the settings dialog after the SDK upgrade
General use
  • Instructors are unable to add an additional LMS to the LMS teaching tool
  • Participants are able to view the video feeds of unverified users
  • There has been a specific instance for one user who was unable to turn on their audio or video feeds
  • Users are not able to scroll through all open web tabs in Class
  • There are some inconsistencies with the chat permission settings, where verified students are unable to chat with everyone
  • Intermittent issues with duplicative chats being displayed
  • When creating several breakout rooms, the default names for the breakout rooms are numbered out of order
  • Files uploaded with titles in Japanese are displayed without a title
  • When a Class is created from LTI, the default default start date of the Class is set in the past causing issues when adding an LMS. Instructors must edit the Class from within the application or in the LTI and set the class dates to the current date manually
  • When an instructor creates a class from an LMS, the meeting is created under the Zoom Admin’s account and not the instructor’s admin account
  • After selecting the Test teaching tool, the activity is mislabeled as a Quiz in various places
  • Participant submission timestamps for activities are not matching their system’s clock
  • Specifically on iPads, participants are unable to input text into the assignment submission text field
  • Instructors and assistants are not able to close the Assessment grading report via the button
