Version 2.5.5 — August 11, 2022

Overview

This release is part of a series of updates that will be made available on a weekly basis through mid-August to ensure that you, your instructors and staff, and your learners have a successful fall with Class. This release also includes an update to the Zoom SDK for macOS to version 5.11.3.

Features

Admin controls:

Additional controls for admin users, including:

  • Option to show or disable whether Class session information is shown to learners in the session information panel
  • Option to automatically start recording a session when a session host joins Class

Enhancements

Several updates to Class creation and user management:

  • A new, simpler workflow for adding additional instructors to your Class sessions during the creation process
  • Users can now have roles assigned as part of being added to a Class roster
  • The roles of existing class users can be edited from the roster

Bug Fixes

Below are the high-priority bug fixes included in this release:

  • Fixed an issue where not all students were getting invitations to Breakout Rooms when the Choose Rooms option was used
  • Fixed a bug in Spanish where the ‘Absent’ label was missing on the sidebar
  • Fixed a bug where when selecting “Add Class Dates” the “From” date is unable to be set past the “To” date.
  • Fixed a bug where 400 errors on POST class creation (meeting already linked to a class) displayed a 500 error

Known Issues

Breakout rooms
  • Instructor is not able to see the chat thread for a breakout room after joining and leaving it
  • Issue where the Host/Co-Host labels in the Participant list disappear when breakout rooms are launched
Localization
  • Mistranslations for professor, trainer, and teacher role names
  • Mute All and Verify All not visible in Spanish translated application
  • In Spanish translation of the applciation, the label for Absent participants is missing
  • Japanese translation of application has incorrect labels for breakout room chat threads
LTI
  • Editing a class from an LMS does not refresh the page with the updated class details
  • Changes to to a user’s role from an LMS do not reflect in Class
  • Issues with host instructor losing privileges when launching through LTI
  • Issues with LTI verification not properly parsing the username
Settings
  • Statistics in the Zoom settings window are currently missing
Virtual backgrounds and filter
  • Currently there is no option to select a “Blur” filter for your virtual background
General use
  • Installing Class invalidates the Zoom SSO token, users navigating to their organizations zoom.us domain will be required to log in again
