Release Notes

Version 2.13 —  April 27, 2023

Overview & Highlights

This release introduces the ability for instructors on the Windows app to move participants to the waiting room and to select which participants’ screens they would like to view when using Proctor / Collaboration View.

Zoom SDK Version: 5.13.10

Class minimum version as of this release: 2.9

Note: manual close captions have been disabled in this build based on an issue identified in the latest Zoom SDK. We will re-enable this feature upon resolution of this issue. Automatic closed caption (live transcription) functionality is unaffected by this change.

Enhancements

Waiting Room

Instructors now have the ability to move a participant to the Waiting Room. This can be done from the user’s context menu (“…”) on their video panel. Users who are moved to the waiting room will appear in the Participants List in the typical Waiting Room section and can be readmitted at any time.

Proctor / Collaboration View

Instructors will be able to start Proctor / Collaboration View with the ability to view all displays for each participant or just their primary display. This is intended to better support instances where instructors may be actively supporting participants in walking through specific content. This is surfaced in the invitation step of the workflow. This is currently only supported for Windows instructors, support will be added for other platforms in subsequent releases.

Participant List

Instructors will now have the ability to sort participants in the participant list by first name and last name.

Bug Fixes

Below are the high-priority bug fixes included in this release:

  • Class sessions that were being run in non-English languages were triggering the creation of a “Main Classroom” breakout room. This issue has now been resolved as of v2.13.0.
  • Spell Check functionality for the Windows OS has been enabled. Windows users were not being provided with suggested corrections in cases where they had misspelled words that were present within the Class application. This was due to the context menu for the Windows OS spellchecking tool being disabled.
  • An issue with launching the Class Whiteboard while a session was being recorded was identified and resolved internally. This is being included in release notes in the event that customers may have experienced this issue on an earlier version of Class.
  • Class sessions that were being started and run by a host on the Class Windows app were not being automatically recorded when the same Class session was started again after being run for the first time. This impacts customers that are using the “Record Class Sessions Automatically” setting that can be configured in the Class admin portal.
  • As part of an ongoing continuous improvement effort, the Class team has been conducting additional testing the with Dashboard report and has addressed several issues with this release that were reported internally. This is being included in release notes in the event that customers may have experienced this issue on an earlier version of Class. Customers are encouraged to notify members of the product support team if any inconsistencies are identified with these exports.
