Version 2.2.2  — March 24, 2022


This release includes an update to the Zoom SDK to v5.9.7, stability improvements, co-host privileges for breakout rooms, and bug fixes.


Included below are the features added to Class for Windows.

Email Configuration:
  • Admins may now toggle off emails upon a newly rostered participant for their organization
  • Instructors may now not opt to not send an invitation email to students that they add to the roster
Contact support from the Home page:
  • Users may now report a problem to support from the Class home page, in their account information drop-down
  • Users may now navigate to the support help page from the Class home page, in their account information drop-down


Included below are the enhancements we have made to features currently existing in Class for Windows.

Zoom SDK
  • Zoom SDK for the Windows platform has been updated to v5.9.7
Breakout rooms
  • Instructors and assistants with co-host privileges can now create, open, close, and manage participants in breakout rooms
  • Instructors and assistants with host or co-host privileges can close breakout rooms or move participants between rooms even while breakout rooms are active
Closed captions
  • Closed captions feature has been updated to no longer automatically turn off when proctor / collaboration view is enabled. If host instructors want to turn off closed captions or live transcription at any time, they must do so manually
For users joining Class from an LMS
  • Start and end times of a Class session will now dynamically update based on the local user’s time zone
  • An additional tab separating upcoming and previous class sessions has been added, and classes are now sorted by soonest upcoming to make it easier to find the most relevant class
  • The soonest upcoming class session has its ‘Launch’ button available in-line with other class details
General use
  • Updated additional cameras to respect privacy mode
  • Updated the meeting information dialog in Office Hours to be labeled Office Hours instead of Personal Meeting Room

Bug Fixes

Included below are the fixes that were made to address known issues or to improve the overall stability of the product.

General use
  • Fixed issues causing application crashes
  • Fixed issue where screen sharing does not stop after breakout rooms are closed
  • Fixed issue where users on the Japanese translated version of Class were unable to send chats
  • Fixed a bug where users could not edit an existing LTI entry and retain the current title
  • Fixed a bug where the top of the side panel was cut off when Spanish was OS language
  • Fixed a bug where students that join Class through LMS couldn’t see private messages from students that joined Class by other means
  • Fixed a bug where alternative hosts cannot launch Class from the LMS
  • Fixed a bug where LTI instructors that are prompted to authorize Class are taken to Zoom instead
  • Fixed a bug where the launch page hung on a blank screen if a URL with HTTPS is not entered
  • Fixed a bug where users with a Japanese localized app were unable to send chats
  • Fixed a bug where Cloud recording links do not show up on the LMS page

Known Issues

Included below are the open issues that our team is actively working to address. An updated list of known issues will be published with our next release.

Breakout rooms
  • A user with co-host privileges may experience a crash when creating or opening breakout rooms if another user with host or co-host privileges is joining from a mobile device
  • Users with co-host privileges in breakout rooms may not see an accurate capture of who has joined a breakout room from the breakout rooms dialog
  • Intermittently, breakout chats disappear after joining and leaving a breakout room
  • Students that are exchanged in a breakout room by the instructor will not receive launched activities
  • Zoom users occasionally do not display in the all breakout rooms tab
  • In the Japanese translated version of the Class application, the instructor title is not translated on the video profile tile
  • Devices that have their language set to Japanese cannot use breakout room chat
  • Japanese translation of instructor in the admin portal is partially incorrect
Play Video
  • Issue with the instructor-controlled video not playing for a macOS participant
Privacy mode
  • Intermittent issues with the privacy mode icon not displaying when a participant turns on privacy mode for themselves
Proctor/Collaboration View
  • The option to maximize the screenshot of a participants is currently not available on macOS
  • There is one reported issue of the application crashing during the proctor/collaboration view
Screen recording
  • When automatic recording is enabled, the recording status bar is not currently displayed
General use
  • There has been a specific instance for one user who was unable to turn on their audio or video feeds
  • There has been a report from a user where participants were unable to unmute or turn on their videos
  • Statistics in the Zoom settings window are currently missing
  • Users are not able to scroll through all open web tabs in Class
  • In the meeting information dialog, the information accessed in the meeting does not currently display when selected
  • Users that have not authorized the ‘class for users’ app are unable to add students to the roster, and are not notified in the app
  • Disabling the gradebook in the admin panel does not disable the gradebook in Class
  • Verifying a zoom user that changes their name does not update the sidebar verification status
  • Intermittently, teachers Enters Class as a Student with a Different Name
  • Intermittently, creating classes on for individual days at the same time different days creates classes for the range of those dates
  • Opening the Agenda when the demo is set to ‘Corporate’ will throw an error
