Windows: Share Content from a Secondary Camera In an Enlarged View

Last updated: July 25th, 2022.

Platform: Windows

Version: All

Issue: Unlike the Mac version of the Zoom SDK, the Windows SDK does not support adding a secondary camera. At the moment, instructors are not able to utilize this feature on the Windows version of the app as they would the Mac OS version. This workaround provides the ability to share a secondary camera in an enlarged view by sharing the screen of the camera application.

Workaround: To get your secondary camera to appear as the main focus of the Classroom tab/gallery, you will need to follow these steps.

  1. Unplug your secondary/external camera (the one that will be used as the document camera)

  2. Join the class as an instructor

  3. Turn on your video using the default/main video camera

  4. Plugin the external webcam

  5. Open the Windows Camera app. You can do this by clicking on the start menu and typing “camera”

  6. Share your screen and select “Portion of Screen” in advanced or the Camera application if applicable

Select the Start menu and select the Camera app

Select the Start menu and search for “camera” if it is not available by default

6. Share your screen and select the Camera application, this will now display in the gallery as the main focus of the class

Notes: This is a temporary workaround until the Windows Zoom SDK supports a secondary document camera
