Start a poll

  1. From the Share Content panel, go to the Polling button.
  2. Spacebar or select Polling button to open the Polling panel.
  3. Go to one of the two choices:
    • Multiple Choice button.
    • Yes/No Choice button.
  4. Spacebar or select button to enable a polling option.

Start a multiple choice poll

  1. After you choose to start a multiple choice poll, go to the Ask a question edit field.
  2. Enter a question.
  3. Go to the First answer choice edit field and enter the first answer.
  4. Go to Second answer choice edit field and enter the second answer.
  5. Optionally, add more answer choices. You can have up to 5 answer choices.
    1. Go to the Add choice button. Spacebar or select Add choice button.
    2. Go to the Third answer choice edit field and enter the third answer.
  6. Optionally, remove answer choices.
    1. Go to Delete answer choice [#] button. 
    2. Spacebar or select Delete answer choice [#] button
    3. Edit field is removed from the panel and focus moves to the previous question edit field.
  7. Go to Start button and Spacebar or select start to open the multiple-choice dialog window.
    • Focus moves to Polling question heading in the poll region and users with a screen reader may hear “Heading level 3 [question text]. Polling region”.
  8. Poll region contains this information:
    • Number of No Responses that equals the number of attendees
    • Number of Answer 1, etc. responses set at 0
    • End the poll button
    • Show/Hide Responses button
    • Clear button when Show Responses is enabled

Start a yes/no poll

  1. After you choose to start a yes/no choice poll, go to the Ask a question edit field.
  2. Enter a question.
  3. Go to Start button and Spacebar or select start to open the yes/no poll region.
    • Focus moves to Polling question heading in the poll region and users with a screen reader may hear “Heading level 3 [question text]. Polling region”.
  4. Poll region contains this information:
    • Number of No Response(s) that equals the number of attendees
    • Number of Yes responses
    • Number of No responses
    • End the poll button
    • Show/Hide Responses button
    • Clear button when Show Responses is enabled

Show/hide responses

Show responses

After responses are shown, the poll is locked, and attendees are unable to change their response.

  1. To show attendees the number of responses, go to the Show Responses button in the poll region.
  2. Spacebar or select Show Responses button to allow the responses to be displayed to attendees.

Hide responses

After responses are hidden, the poll is unlocked, and attendees can change their response.

  1. To hide the number of responses from attendees, go to Hide Responses button.
  2. Spacebar or select Hide Responses button to stop displaying the number of responses to attendees.

Clear responses

When you show responses, a Clear button is displayed in the poll region.

  1. To reset the poll, go to the Clear button.
  2. Spacebar or select Clear button.
  3. Answer values return to 0 and No response value returns to the number of attendees.

End a poll

  1. In the poll region, go to the End polling button.
  2. Spacebar or select End polling button.
  3. After the poll ends, users with a screen reader may hear “The moderator ended a poll” and the poll region is longer be displayed on the page.
  4. Depending on the browser focus moves to one of these locations:
    • If collaborate panel is closed: Open collaborate panel button
    • If collaborate panel is open: The active tab in the collaborate panel

Respond to a poll

  1. After a poll starts, focus moves to the [first answer text] in the poll region. Screen reader users hear “Respond to [question text] with [first answer text] button, the moderator has started a poll”
  2. Spacebar or select [first answer text] button or go through the remaining questions. Use Spacebar or select [answer text] button to select a different answer. 
  3. The answer is displayed as white text on a black background.

View responses

If the moderator turns on the Show Responses option, in the poll region a number appears after each answer.

Color is used along with the number to add a visual comparison of the answer responses


Poll is ended

After the poll ends, screen reader users hear “The moderator ended a poll” and the poll region is no longer be displayed on the page.

Depending on the browser, focus goes to one of these locations:

  • Chrome: browser address bar
  • Firefox: Open Session Menu button
  • Safari: Share Audio button

View Poll Button

After a poll is started, a View Poll button appears on the page next to the Raise Hand control. This button allows you to hide the poll region.

  1. Go to the View Poll button.
  2. Spacebar or select View Poll button to hide the poll region.
    • Poll is no longer be displayed on the page and screen reader users hear “deselect View Poll toggle button”.
    • If you have responded to the poll , screen reader users hear “deselect View Toggle button, You responded with [Yes, No, or #]” and the View Poll button will be displayed with [Y, N, or #].
  3. Spacebar or select View Poll button to display the poll region.
    • Poll region is displayed on the page and screen reader users hear “select View Toggle button”.
