We’re on a mission to change the way the world learns
Our mission at Class is to change the way the world learns. We’re committed to empowering learners and instructors with tools that encourage active learning, collaboration, and engagement—regardless of location or circumstances. Our next generation virtual classroom solutions are designed to enhance the learning experience by fostering engagement, interactivity, and community-building, leading to better outcomes for all.
Founder and CEO Michael Chasen experienced firsthand the shortcomings of video conferencing technology during the pandemic as he helped his three children through their remote instruction. Chasen, who also co-founded and served as the CEO of Blackboard, is widely recognized for his leadership and achievements in educational technology. With Class, Chasen is again leading the charge to change the way the world learns.
Class is founded and backed by education and tech leaders
Class raises $30M in Series A, to ramp up and meet demand for the thousands of colleges, universities, K-12 schools, and corporate training programs in the U.S. and overseas who joined a waitlist indicated interest in purchasing Class.
Class becomes generally available, expands globally
Class is made generally available, after working side-by-side with academic institutions and corporations through beta testing with one goal in mind: to make the virtual classroom feel like the real classroom.
Class raises $105M to accelerate growth and expand globally into new markets. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and Salesforce Ventures also invested.
Class becomes the most widely used virtual classroom solution
Class announces the acquisition of Blackboard Collaborate—making Class the largest provider of virtual classroom software for education.
The acquisition provided a deja vu moment for Class co-founder and CEO, Michael Chasen, who combined the Wimba & Elluminate products to build Blackboard Collaborate as Blackboard CEO.
Class expands virtual training offerings for work and government
Class acquires CoSo Cloud and expands its support of virtual training at global corporations, federal government agencies, and high-consequence businesses of all sizes.
With the addition of CoSo Cloud’s team, Class is now an industry-leading team of technologists, compliance experts, and education experts that will serve 10M+ users across 1,500+ institutions worldwide.
We’re a fully distributed, virtual team
We’re passionate about learning and technology, and we’re on a mission to change the way the world learns. As a fully remote company, we aspire to create a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
Class Cares takes our team’s commitment to help and puts it into action through volunteering, donations, and partnerships to help students in need around the world.
The greatest thing we make isn’t software—it’s impact. Recent Class Cares initiatives include donating supplies for students who attend DC Public Schools (DCPS), providing learners at the American Indian Academy Charter School in Denver with materials for back-to-school, and more.
